Political Stand:

Japanese government to issue visas to Dalai and Kadeer

Post by smallfrog » Fri Apr 16, 2010 7:54 am

As the "World Uyghur Congress " President Rebiya Kadeer and the Dalai Lama expressed the desire to visit Japan in May and June respectively, the Japanese government decided to issue entry visas to both people. This will be the second time for Hatoyama Yukio to allow the two to visit Japan after he took office.
Japanese government will adhere to the consistent stand: as government guests and that visas will be issued ‘‘on the basis of domestic laws.’’
Kadeer is scheduled visit to Japan on May 20 and will participate in a seminar held in Tokyo and Osaka. Dalai Lama will visit Japan on June 18. Apart from attending the ceremonies in Nagano City, Zenkoji, he will also deliver a speech at the Kanazawa and Yokohama. After Kadeer took office of the "World Uyghur Congress" in 2006, she had visited Japan three times and the Dalai Lama has visited Japan 13 times.
China has always opposed foreign countries to issue visas to Kadeer and the Dalai Lama. This will be harmful to the China-Japanes relationship. The Japanese government should do something to better the relationship between China and Japan.
