I think that should have been done a long time ago.. but there goes their motto. We will not communicate with terrorists.

AS long as we refuse to have anything to do with them they have no reason to help us.

And respect is always important. But in that part of the world it seems very important.

And most of them don't feel respected by the US.

I am against talking with terrorists. However history has clearly proved that that doesn't work! The IRA caused terrible losses during their campaign and it DIDN'T stop until we sat down and talked to them. I'm not advocating talking to Al-quaeda, but I would not rule it out in the future.
We have had enough pointless wars in the last 100 years and every one of them could have been sorted out by a good old discussion around a table hadn't it been for the stupidy of the human race. War is a terrible thing, each life is precious and so many innocent die. Surely if lives are saved - the war stops - then isn't that the goal? If it works - go for it.

I am sure ready to try something else. Maybe put the leaders that send all these young people to fight their wars in a cage. Then turn out the lights. Come back and see who is left in a couple of days. I think none of them would get hurt if they had to do their own fighting. Does that sound mean or dumb?

lol - people often use that analysis. Remember the forces are a professional group of people that specialise in killing others and avoid getting killed at the same time. These people are trained to do this, it is what they wanted to do and if they didn't want to risk getting killed they should never have joined. I may sound callous, but they know that if they go and join up they may have to die.

Tony Blair and Bush may well be guilty of many things but as far as the troops go they are paying them to do this and the same people they are paying volunteered themselves. Look how many have joined up since October 2001 and March 2003!

True. But they may not be as dedicated as the suicide bombers on the other team.

Not as dedicated, but probably more effective in the long run.

And I don't like talking with terrorists, but if it stopped the attacks on us I would approve of it. However, I really don't see what these people could want from us that we could give them to stop them. They already get millions and millions of USD pouring into the Middle East for oil, so money is probably not what they want. I can't see that we could entice them to quit in any way.

I am sure they all want something. Some may want respect. Can you believe that some people think we are arrogant? Maybe a little, just a tiny bit.

There are so many different things they could want. Power, respect, or a country of their own. Maybe someone needs to ask them .
