First of all, I'd like to inform you guys that im an American (incase some think im british because that seems to happen).
Although it's discouraging to admit, Osama Bin Laden is one of the only people who can say 'mission accomplished' for this war. His goal from the get-go was, in his own words: “bleeding America to the point of bankruptcy”.
Some more of his quotes...
"If their economy is destroyed, [the US] will be busy with their own affairs rather than enslaving the weak peoples. It is very important to concentrate on hitting the U.S. economy through all possible means."
al Qaeda has found it “easy for us to provoke and bait this administration. All that we have to do is to send two mujahedeen to the furthest point east to raise a piece of cloth on which is written al Qaeda, in order to make generals race there to cause America to suffer human, economic and political losses without their achieving anything of note other than some benefits for their private corporations.
“And it all shows that the real loser is you. It is the American people and their economy.”
And look what's happened since Bin Laden has lead the US into Iraq. The US is spending 10 billion dollars a month for the war. Estimates for the total war cost stack up in the trillions to add onto the national debt of over 10 trillion.
And you know the rest of the story: our economy has collapsed and we're in the worst economic situation since the Great Depression, yadda yadda.
It's likely that Bin Laden has already died. Yet his plan to destabilize the US economy has worked brilliantly since we stupidly took his bait into Iraq.

RE: Why Bin Laden?!! WHY!
No, Bin Laden is not 100% to blame. Bush is just as much to blame as anyone, if not more. He was told NOT to go to Iraq, but he decided to anyway despite the facts. Bush had a hidden agenda to take out Saddam that originates from when Saddam had put a death threat on Bush Sr. So in a sense, Bush used 9/11 as an excuse to invade Iraq and get out Saddam (plus other reasons probably involving oil and god knows what else.) I think TERRIBLE judgement from George Bush and his administration was at fault. Bin Laden just got lucky that Bush was stupid enough to act the way he did. Because honestly, what did weapons of mass destruction have to do with 9/11? I don't recall Iraqi weapons being set off on American soil...
RE: Why Bin Laden?!! WHY!
A lot of mistakes were made all around. Saddam had many chances to keep Iraq from being invaded. But he just had to keep boasting about what he could and would do. Well right or wrong Bush is living the good life in Texas and Saddam is not living anywhere.
I have no idea why people say it was about oil. The US could have bought oil cheaper than the war. And our oil price went up not down after the war started. I want to know where the Iraq oil did anything for the United States.
And as for Bin Laden, while I would like to catch and kill him, he is now meaningless. Too many little splinter groups playing the same game now.

well I think his name is just overhyped and the main people behind the scene are unknown to everyone...but Bin Laden might have done something in every criminal aspect...but i think as for now terrorists are using his name for the sake of their safety....
